Cauliflower Patties – 3 Low-Carb Ways to Make Them

Cauliflower Patties

Cauliflower patties come in a variety of different shapes and sizes. Plus, some people make them extra cheesy while others use no cheese at all.

Furthermore, you can make them large flat and round, like a pancake, (see this easy burger press) or create hash-brown like fritters (with a sandwich press) that taste great for breakfast.

Alternatively, you can shape them into smaller, round cakes or patties and serve them as appetizers.

In any case, it will be difficult to get tired of these tasty treats because you can make them in so many ways. For example, I’ve included a few cauliflower patty recipe ideas below.

Cheesy Cauliflower Pancakes

First of all, this recipe comes from Stacey at RealHouseMoms.com. First, she combines mashed cauliflower, eggs, cheddar cheese, green onions, bread crumbs, cayenne pepper and olive oil.

Next, she forms the mixture into 3″ diameter patties and fries them up 3 minutes on each side. When finished, she enjoys them with some light sour cream.

Also, Karen and Eric Berg also share their low-carb recipe for cauliflower pancakes below. However, they use almond flour instead of bread crumbs and mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar:

  • 1 Cup Riced Cauliflower
  • 1/2 Cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/4 Cup Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Almond Flour
  • 3 Pinches Salt and Pepper

Cauliflower Fritters

Kim at LowCarbMaven.com has a low carb recipe for hash browns, which she calls cauliflower fritters. For example, the ingredients include grated cauliflower, almond flour, parmesan cheese, baking powder, chopped onion, eggs, lemon pepper and salt.

  • 1 lb Grated Cauliflower
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Almond Flour
  • 1/2 cup Grated parmesan Cheese
  • 3 ounces Chopped Onion
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • 1/5 tsp Lemon Pepper

First, she starts by grating the cauliflower and squeezing out the excess water. Next, she combines all ingredients. (By the way, she offers both skillet and oven cooking methods.)

Using a skillet, fry the fritters for 3 minutes on each side in hot oil. On the other hand, you can bake them at 400 degrees F in the oven oil-free for 10-12 minutes on each side.

Cauliflower Patties or Cakes

Below, Joel from the UltimatePaleoGuide.com shares his cheese-free recipe for fried cauliflower patties.

He uses cauliflower rice, ghee, coconut flour, eggs, garlic powder, chives and salt. In addition, he uses coconut oil for frying, and he recommends using enough where you can partially submerge the patties while frying.

  • 1 Head Cauliflower
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3 tbsp Coconut Flour
  • 2 tbsp Chives
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2-4 tbsp Coconut Oil for Frying

First, he heats the riced cauliflower in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Next, after letting it cool for 5 minutes, he adds the rest of the ingredients, mixes and forms them into 6-8 patties.

Lastly, he fries the patties in hot coconut oil for approximately 2-3 minutes per side. Afterwards, he places the cakes on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
